Rev. David E. Cooper State Chaplain Father Cooper was born in 1943 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and attended Holy Name Grade School (1 & 2), St. Peter Claver Grade School (3 to 8), Salvatorian Seminary, St. Nazianz, Wisconsin (Class of 1962), Mount St. Paul College, Waukesha, Wisconsin (1962-1964) and St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee (1964 - 1970) were he received a B.A. Degree in 1968. He was ordained on May 31, 1970 by Auxiliary Bishop Leo J. Brust at his home parish of St. Peter Claver Church, Sheboygan and received his Master of Divinity in 1979 from St. Francis Seminary. Father Cooper served as Associate Pastor at St. Alphonsus Parish, Greendale, WI 1970 - 1976, St. James Parish, Franklin, WI 1976 - 1981 and St. Matthias Parish, Milwaukee, WI 1981 - 1990. He also was Pastor of Holy Assumption Parish, West Allis, WI 1990 - 2000 and presently is Pastor of St. Matthias Parish in Milwaukee. Father Cooper is a member of Knights of Columbus council 3095 and former Chaplain and Faithful Friar of the Fourth Degree's Msgr. Arnold Assembly. He became Diocesan Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 2003 and State Chaplian on July 1, 2008. Father Cooper was moderator for District 16 MACCW (Milwaukee Archdiocesan Conference of Christian Women), and founder of Priest-Rabbi Dialogue Group - Milwaukee metropolitan Area (1984), and Treasurer of the West Allis Ecumenical Clergy Association. |
